Global warming can be a good example of apocalyptic scenario. In fact man is afraid of himself and more so what he has created. War is a disaster of man’s actions that has always had devastating effects on his life. With advancement of technology, war has taken a notch higher and so is the destructive effects which are to be accounted by sophisticated weapons used. This is compared to the fear of gods as in the Greek culture of 5th century in Athens (Ford 72). In those time one could not defy the gods and succeed in his or her endeavors because guided by hubris, one met fate he or she was destined, as depicted in the classical literary works. Supernatural forces The gods represented the divine powers controlling fate of man. Sophocles presents these powers of the gods in dramatized play in the story of a man unwitting moving closer to the unhappy fate he has been all along struggling mightily to avoid. The child Oedipus is born to a royal couple, Jocasta and Laius but a grim prophesy deprive this child the royal upbringing. Outcasted to be killed Oedipus is rescued and brought up by Corinth King. The War of the Worlds predicts the use of sophisticated weapons that can cause mass deaths as depicted by the invasion. It may not happen as predicted but the continued advancement of technology on weapons we may in future experience wars that employ these weapons, bringing havoc to the same people who made the same weapons (Wells and MacAdam 28). For this reason man has to be worried not of the ancient gods and the supernatural forces as depicted in the classical Greek plays, but because of his actions to create weapons via the advanced technology. Supranational agreements on the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction are today being tightened to avoid the wars these weapons may be used. But for how long shall these agreement hold before defaulters emerge and these weapons reach the hands of terrorists? How long before nations start rising against each other? These are the fears man has of weapons he has created and what effects they can have to the world. A plague is out to wipe the human race and only two people are remaining sane on the world: Bill and Josella. The community is being devoured to extinction by combination of the triffids which are carnivorous man made plants that can walk, talk and are in revolution to take up the world from man. In fact the seeds of the plants have scattered around the world after a plot to steal them from Russian laboratory (Wyndham and Francis 81). Bill finally meets Josella whom they had been separated but have to fight off the triffids which are proving to be resilient. Wyndham novel is about what might be explained as the impeding doom of human race after the Cold War. Reflections on the novel fit in apocalyptic genre where the humanity may slip-off the agreements on nuclear weapons in to an abyss of nuclear holocaust. If I Could be but Half as Courageous    Helen Keller was born on June 27th, 1880 in Tuscumbia, Alabama. She was a bright infant, interested in everything around her, and imitating adults at a very young age. In February of 1882, she was struck with an illness which left her deaf and blind. For several years, Helen had very little communication with the rest of the world, except for a few signs which she used with her family. When she was six, her parents wanted desperately to do something to help their strong-willed, half-wild, child. They were far from any deaf or blind schools, and doubted that anyone would come to the little town to educate their deaf and blind child. They heard of a doctor in Baltimore who had helped many seemingly hopeless cases of blindness, but when he examined Helen, there was nothing he could do for her. However, he referred them to Dr. Alexander Graham Bell who recommended Anne Sullivan to teach Helen.    On March 3, 1887 Helen met "the Miracle Worker," Anne Mansfield Sullivan. Then, about a month later on April 5, Helen associated the water running over her hand with the letters w-a-t-e r that Anne was spelling into her hand. That day she learned thirty words and proved to be a very intelligent, fast learner from then on. She quickly learned the finger-tip alphabet and shortly thereafter, to write. Helen had mastered Braille and learned how to use a typewriter by the age of 10. When she was 16, she could speak well enough to attend preparatory school and college. In 1904 she graduated from Radcliffe College with Anne Sullivan by her side interpreting lectures and class discussion to her.    Helen then dedicated her life to improving the world. She delivered many lectures to improve the conditions for the blind and deaf-blind. She spoke out for women's rights and pacifism. She spoke in over 25 countries bringing new hope to many people. She spoke against World War I and her pay from lectures declined because of her stand. During World War II she visited military personnel who had become blind and/or deaf because of injuries. She also spent a lot of time raising funds for organizations working with the deaf and blind. Over the past century, many countries have started implementing community water fluoridation as a method of promoting dental care. As a result, fluoridation has generated both positive and negative consequences for the human body and the societies. Fluoridation is defined as â€Å"the process of adding fluoride ions to the public water supplies for the purpose of reducing the incidence of dental caries.†1 Whether or not community water fluoridation will benefit society is a controversial issue. On the one hand, excess amounts of fluoride could lead to potential health problems and affect many tissues in the body besides the teeth. Furthermore, fluoridation removes individuals’ rights to choose what they ingest from the public water supplies and their rights to receive tailored medication. On the other hand, water fluoridation is considered safe for both the environment and individuals at optimal levels and it is an effective approach to distribution. Finally, because th e access to running water is widespread and cost-effective, water fluoridation could benefit the whole population equally. Firstly, when the amount of fluoride in the human body exceeds the prescribed standards, there is an association between fluoride and several health concerns. There is minimal difference between the toxic and effective dose. Therefore it is possible for individuals to suffer from consequences of fluoride over-exposure, such as dental and skeletal fluorosis. According to the Fluoride Alert Organization, fluoride could also disrupt the normal endocrine functions of several tissues and organs, including the bones, the brain, the thyroid gland, the pineal gland, and even blood sugar levels.2 For example, researchers claimed that acute poisoning of fluor... ...ves in the public water supplies must apply to the levels formulated in the â€Å"Guidelines for the Use of Fluorides† published by Ministry of Health. According to New Zealand Dental Association’s study, in every single year, water fluoridation is estimated to prevent 58,000-267,000 cases of dental caries and associated illnesses. Also, there is a strong association between community water fluoridation and the decrease of children’s dental hospital admission rates.10 Over 60 years ago, researchers have been recording the effectiveness of community water fluoridation,8 which shows that there is a history of positive water fluoridation. Thus, public water supplies are ideal medium for fluoride and water fluoridation is a both safe and effective method at recommended levels.

BRIEF HISTORY Readymade garments sector is one of the most potential sectors of Bangladesh. 75 percent of the export revenue is earned from the readymade garments sector. S. Nahar garments is one of the active company in the garments sector to contribute in the earnings of foreign exchange. The company is a sister concern of Mohammadi group. It is an ISO 9001:2002 certified organization. It was established in 1985. Mohammadi group is one of the renowned companies in Bangladesh. This group contributes a lot in the garments sector of Bangladesh. This group has several garments in different areas in Bangladesh. The head office of Mohammadi group is located at Motijheel in Dhaka. Its factories are scattered in different areas in Bangladesh. It has factory in Badda, Mirpur, Naraynganj, Savar, Kanchpur, Adamjee EPZ and other different areas. All readymade garments produced from these factories are exported to Europe and North American market. 60 percent of its products are exported to European market and rests of the 40 percent are exported to North American market. Business Tycoon Md. Habibur Rahman is the owner of this group. Couple of years ago this group has real estate business also. But now real estate business has been separated from this group. OBJECTIVES OF THIS REPORT Every study has an objective. Our study is not separate from that. The general objective of this report is to identify the wage plan of a manufacturing company. We make this report on S. Nahar Garments (a manufacturing company) for preparing the incentive wage plan. Also such report gives the opportunity to prepare a real business report that will help us to makes report in future for companies. SCOPES OF THE STUDY This study was an opportunity for us to know about the wage plan and incentives in manufacturing company. We also gather knowledge about labor demands, and how to satisfy them. This kind of information helps us to know what incentives would be effective. Bangladesh govt. amended the wage law few years ago. According to this law there is a minimum wage and every garments and factories must follow these rules. S. Nahar garments is not exceptional from that. It gives its workers wage by following the wage law. There are 7 different levels/grade of workers based on training and experience. He or she will get 30 percent of basic as a house rent and 200 taka medical allowance which is fixed. So the total wage of a worker in grade-7 is 1662. 50 taka. And this is the minimum wage rate for every garments and factory. As same as the basic wage of a worker in Grade-6 is 1270 taka and total wage is 1851 taka. The basic wage of a worker in Grade-5 is 1420 taka and total wage is 2046 taka. In Grade-4 basic wage is 1577 taka and total wage is 2250. 10 taka. In Grade-3 basic wage is 1730 taka and total wage is 2449 taka. The basic wage for Grade-2 and 1 are 2800 taka and 3800 taka respectively and total wages are 3840 taka and 5140 taka respectively. So in every grade the worker will get a basic wage, plus he or she will get 30 percent house rent of basic and 200 taka fixed medical allowance. Bangladesh govt. follows the following rule to set up a worker’s total wage in every grade. Total Wage = Basic wage + (Basic wage ? .3) + 200 House rent Medical allowance S. Nahar Garments Company also gives some extra benefit to motivate its workers. It gives its workers 100 taka as attendance allowance. In this garments every worker has to work 6 days in a week and rest of the day is holiday for the worker. If any worker is present all the working days then he or she will be given 100 taka as attendance allowance. If he or she in 2 or less than 2 days then he or she will get 50 taka as attendance allowance. If any worker is absent in more than 2 working days then no attendance allowance is applicable. This allowance is on monthly basis. The company also provides bonus on the festive season. That means on Eid, Puja the worker gets 50 percent bonus on his gross wage. There are overtime facilities for the workers in this garment. Every worker has to work 8 hours in a day and 48 hours in a week. He or she is allowed to work up to 60 hours in a week. For the overtime hours he or she will get 2 times wage of basic. This company does not provide any production bonus. The garments company also provides some others facilities. It provides drugs for its sick workers. The female workers get 16 week leave as maternity benefit. There is also a daycare centre for those female workers who have children RECOMMENDATION From the survey in S. Nahar Garments, we learn that their incentives wage plan is not much encouraging. So we advise that, they should provide launch allowances and follow the piece work plan. By using this plan they can increase their production. It is using motivation of labors. Because piece work plan give value of the labors work, and increase their wage. This plan also increases production, which can generate company’s revenue. That means increase profits. So this plan will be effective and profitable for the company CONCLUSION At the end of the report it is quite evident that the wage plan of the S. Nahar Company is not very high. But, to increase this potential S. Nahar Garments must plan its way very carefully. We have formulated all the strategies needed to gain substantial wage plan. Now S. Nahar Company must follow all those strategies. Any lack of commitment in S. Nahar Garments part would result in a disaster. But after establishing themselves in organization they must not feel like winners. Making a greater wage for employees is not the end of the story — it won’t be living happily ever after. Because it is nothing about the fairy tales, rather the real world that is getting more and more dynamic and uncertain and where it is to believe that problems are there always but along with the solutions. It is just the initiative that should be taken at that moment to find the solution.
